Go Genting!
Note: I've been very busy for this past few weeks that I barely have time to update this blog. I'll try my best to update this.

It's my parent's first weekend here in Kuala Lumpur and since they had been to the Petronas towers last week, we opted to have our next stop in another popular destination here in Malaysia - Genting Highlands. Genting is famous for its theme park, hotels and casinos. I can compared this to Las Vegas except that its wholesome (since the Malaysians are known to be conservative). It is located at the top of a mountain and is 45 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur.

We left our unit at around 11:00 AM because Papa had to go to the doctor for his vaccine (he was bitten by a dog a week ago before he came here). Since we were late, the next bus going to Genting when we arrived at KL Sentral would depart at 2:00 PM. Too bad because Abby (my teammate in my previous job who went to Malaysia for vacation) got a bus that left KL Sentral at 1:30 PM. So we ate lunch at KL Sentral and had chicken rice (yummy!). We spent a long time waiting for our bus to depart. Fortunately, I was able to find Abby at the platform and spent a few minutes catching up =).

At 2 PM, we boarded the bus going to Genting. The bus going there was full. Unfortunately, a metallic object hit my leg which caused me to have a wound (and to think that we're heading to the beach next week). I fell asleep at the bus (which is expected to have a length of 1.5 hours) on our way to Genting. On our way to Genting, Mars asked how are we doing because she's not feeling well. She's also away for the weekend for riverboarding with some of our colleagues.

At 3:30 PM, we arrived at Genting Highlands. We took the cable car on our way up there. My father is scared of heights and he can't move in the cable car. Riding with us on our way up there are 2 employees from Genting - one of them is a Filipina. Anyway, the way going to Genting is indeed steeper and longer compared to the cable car in Singapore. The cable car ride also made me wonder what would be the risk if *knock on wood* something went wrong with the cable car since there's a jungle below the cable car to Genting compared to the cable car in Sentosa where a sea lies beneath.

Anyway, after 2 hours of travelling, we finally get to Genting Highlands (woohoo!). We got into the Genting outdooor theme park. We first saw the Spinner ride, which is similar to the flying fiesta ride in Enchanted Kingdom. Again, my father is scared of heights so my mother and I took the ride. It was my first time to take my parents to a theme park and I'm amazed to find out that my mother is actually excited to try all the thrilling rides while my father feels otherwise. Anyway, my father ended up taking our pictures everytime my mother and I go for the exciting rides. In order for him not to end up as a photographer, we took the rides that are "family friendly" - monorail, antique car and mini train - those type of rides that even a 3 year old can enjoy (and I thought that we're gonna ride a carousel to complete this list ahahaha!). The only thrill ride that he tried was the Pirate Ship which is similar to the Anchor's Away in Enchanted Kingdom. Too bad, my mother and I was not able to try the flying coaster ride - a ride where you will be put in a cage in a position that will make you feel like you're a superman (maybe next time *wink wink*). My father and I tried karting at 8:30 PM which is not a good idea because it was foggy that I can't see a thing. It was very cold that night after karting so we ate dinner in First World hotel, which I find to be very expensive - three times compared to the price in KL. Getting around in the hotel reminded me of my experience in Las Vegas where the main activity is hotel hopping (take note, not mall hopping hehe) where the casinos are a must see (of course, adult entertainment is a no-no here and the ladies walking in their wedding dress are nowhere to be found). At 10 PM, we left Genting.

It was a good experience for me as I finally did one of the things that I'm planning to do - bring my parents to a theme park =P When I was young, I remember those times when we went to fiesta carnival and the joy that it brought me as a child. I hope I was able to make it memorable for them =)
