In Memoriam of the Pope John Paul II |
I received a text message early this morning from Eva, informing me that the pope had died this morning (Manila time). As a Catholic, I really fell sad with the news.
I met a lot of people my age whose name is John Paul (Jeanne Paula for women) and my mom said that the reason why it happened is because the pope visited the Philippines during 1981. With the Philippines as a nation that is really devoted to Catholicism, I guess a lot of Filipinos were really inspired.
As I watch the television about the life of the pope, I can't help but felt admired with how he lived his life. He was the first non-Italian pope after more than 4 centuries. He came from a third world country and endured a lot of challenges during his youth. These experience helped a lot in molding him to become one of the greatest popes ever. I also learned that the Karol Wojtyla cheated death several times. Isn't it amazing to know that God has great plans for him and allowed him to serve his purpose? (So I'm talking about God's plans again?).
Now I'm starting to appreciate God's purpose in one's life. Most of the times, we don't understand how come a certain thing happened in our lives. But it seems that everyone must go through some hardships to prepare us for our purpose in life, which is a journey that everyone has to go through. |
